But I also took this picture shortly after my friend Kim told me she let her husband buy a kayak she suspected he might not actually use, so maybe that tainted my interpretation. I don't know. Last night, Alex Ovechkin, number 8, scored his 50th goal of the season. That's his fourth 50 goal season in 5 seasons in the NHL. That's why they call him the Great 8. Well, it's one of the reasons.

The Great 8 Alex Ovechkin scored 2 goals last night, one 4 seconds into a Caps power play and one empty netter with just over a second left in the game, tying him for the top spot in the goals race this reason (though he's played 8 games less than the other guy).



That's why he's the reigning MVP. This guy knows it and loves it.

Theme Week

Well, it's that time of year: the regular hockey season is coming to an end and playoffs are just around the corner. It's been a hallmark year for the Caps so far. They have another division title, and for the first time in franchise history, they have clinched the Eastern conference. On top of that, as of last night, Caps have won the President's Trophy, meaning they will finish out the season with the most points/best record of any team in the league. Whatever happens in the post-season, this has been a great run, and so for the last week of the season, it's all about the Caps here at You're So Vain. If you're not a Caps fan and are annoyed that the blog will be Caps-centric for a week, well, then, you've got bigger problems than I can help you with.
